What Is an Intransitive Verb?


Intransitive verb is an action verb that has subject (DOER) to complete a sentence

·         It does not have an object (noun receiver).

 

Subject is a person or thing that DOES the action (DOER a noun or pronoun) 

Intransitive verb can be followed by an adverb or Prepositional Phrase

EXAMPLE: ran

 

Subject + Intransitive                Verb

With Adverb

With Prepositional Phrase


She ran.

She ran quickly.

She ran across the street.
